Worldwide performance of CO2 booster systems with auxiliary compressor.

Summary

This work, using theoretical models close to reality, analyses the energy improvements provided by the subsequent generations of CO2 booster systems with auxiliary compressor for centralised commercial refrigeration. Starting from the basic CO2 booster system with flash gas, the improvements of parallel compression and economization layouts are evaluated first, and then the enhancements provided by the integrated and dedicated subcooling systems are studied in detail.
Using worldwide climatic data and a realistic load factor, the performance of the five architectures for a medium sized supermarket application is evaluated (QO,LT=40kW at -32ºC and QO,MT=120kW at -6ºC) in 2498 cities around the world.
