Numerical simulation of the impact of dead volume on the performance of passive regenerators.

Author(s) : LIU Y., TREVIZOLI P., TURA A., et al.

Summary

A transient model is developed to simulate oscillating fluid flow and heat transfer process in passive regenerators. Two dead volumes are applied at the ends of a regenerator. The impact of dead volume is analyzed by changing the dead volume relative to the regenerator length. The numerical simulation is compared to data generated by a passive regenerator test apparatus.
