INFLUENCE OF THE EXPANSION VALVE ON THE EVAPORATOR PERFORMANCE.

Summary

A STUDY HAS BEEN MADE ON THE INFLUENCE OF A THERMOSTATIC EXPAN SION VALVE ON THE PERFORMANCE OF AN EVAPORATOR/AIR COOLER. AN EXPANSION VALVE OF USUAL DESIGN (WHICH LOOKS LIKE A PROPORTIONAL CONTROLLER) HAS BEEN COMPARED WITH AN EXPANSION VALVE WITH AN INTEGRATING ACTION. WITH THE INTEGRATING ACTION THE EVAPORATOR CAN, INDEPENDENT OF CHANGES IN ITS HEAT LOAD, BE CONTROLLED AT A CONSTANT SUPERHEAT. SITUATIONS WITH AND WITHOUT EQUAL DISTRIBUTION OF THE AIR AND THE REFRIGERANT HAVE BEEN ENVISIONED. THE INFLUENCE OF THE SUPERHEAT CONTROL ON THE COP HAS BEEN STUDIED, IN CASE OF A CONSTANT HEAT LOAD.
