Summary

First-order phase transition material MnFePSi has attracted much attention as a room-temperature magnetic refrigerant. The influence of different applied pressure (2, 3 and 4 GPa) during sintering on the magnetic properties of MnFePSi compounds was investigated. All of the compounds crystallize in Fe2P-type hexagonal structure. The Curie temperature and thermal hysteresis decrease with increasing pressure. The compactness is enhanced when applying pressure upto 4 GPa, while the magnetic entropy change has hardly any change (pressure upto 3 GPa).
