FOUR SEA PRODUCTS, REPRESENTING AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE AUSTRALIAN MARKET: SHRIMPS, LOBSTER TAILS, SEA EARS AND ORANGE ROUGHY FILLETS, WERE PACKED IN CORRUGATED CARTON AND THEN FROZEN IN AN AIR BLAST. AIR SPEED VARIES FROM 1.5 TO 6.5 M/S AND MEAN TEMPERATURES FROM -30 TO -40 DEG C. THE FREEZING TIMES RANGE FROM 9 TO 16 HOURS. A MODIFIED VERSION OF THE PLANK EQUATION WAS USED. IN SOME CASES,THE CALCULATED VALUES WERE 50% LOWER THAN THE MEASURED ONES.
