Flow line for precooling and refrigerated transport of fruits and vegetables.

Author(s) : FIKIIN A.

Summary

Relationships have been found between temperature and the development of the biochemical and physiological processes in the cell tissue of fruit and vegetables, immediately after harvesting. In order to slow down the decay process and to provide a better quality of product, a unit has been built including: rapid precooling equipment, store rooms for cooled products, and loading platforms. The possibilities of reducing the power of refrigerating equipment for wagons and trucks transporting precooled fruit and vegetables have been studied. It has been proved that developing a rapid precooling unit will improve product quality and limit losses, and also achieve savings by reducing the refrigerating capacity of certain vehicles.
