Summary

Hexafluoropropene (R1216) has received more and more attention as a working fluid in organic Rankine cycles (ORCs) and refrigeration systems due to its excellent environmental performance and flame-retardant effect. Besides, it is of great importance to select a suitable lubricating oil that can match the working fluids well. In this paper, the solubility of R1216 in polyol ester (POE) 32 was experimentally measured through the equal-volume saturation method. The solubility data were obtained at the temperature range of 283.15K to 353.15K with the pressure from 0.15 MPa to 1.12 MPa. The results showed that the solubility of R1216 in POE 32 decreased with the increase in temperature. Moreover, the non-random two-liquid activity coefficient (NRTL) model was used to correlate the experimental data. The numerical calculation showed that the correlated and experimental data showed good consistency. This work is of great significance in providing solubility data for selecting the suitable oil for the R1216 refrigeration system.
