Enhancement of the performance of indirect cooling coils for display cabinets.

Author(s) : HAGLUND C., FAHLÉN P., SUNDÉN B., et al.

Summary

Different ways of improving cooling coils served with liquid secondary refrigerants in display cabinet applications are studied by using a calculation model. Correlations from the literature for enhanced tubes, i.e. tubes with continuous or regularly spaced twisted-tape inserts or longitudinal internal fins, are then added to the model. Optimizing criteria for a display cabinet application are stated. The results show that for such criteria, twisted-tape inserts or internal fins can improve the performance if the liquid flow path (total tube length) is sufficiently short.
