Atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations over the past 60 million years.

Author(s) : PEARSON P. N., PALMER M. R.

Type of article: Article

Summary

During certain periods, atmospheric CO2 concentrations were much higher than today's levels. By studying the boron isotope content of Foraminifera shells, the authors have been able to reconstitute the pH of the upper ocean layers, and thus the atmospheric CO2 concentrations.
