Who drives the IIR

3 Statutory Bodies - 5 Sections - 10 Commissions

 

The management of the IIR is undertaken by the following three statutory bodies:

 

  1. the General Conference
  2. the Executive Committee
  3. the Management Committee


The Science and Technology Council coordinates the scientific and technical activities of the IIR.

 

The operation of the IIR Statutory Bodies is defined by an International Agreement signed on December 1, 1954 and a General Regulations for the Applications signed on November 20, 1956.

General Conference

The General Conference of the IIR defines the IIR's general policy and is comprised of representatives appointed by Member Countries and meets once every 4 years during IIR International Congresses of Refrigeration, bringing together Member Country delegations. Dr. Philippe Lebrun, elected in August 2015, is currently President of the General Conference.

 

 

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee of the IIR, which meets once a year, handles the administrative and financial aspects of the Institute. Comprised of 1 delegate per Member Country, the President of the Executive Committee and the Vice-Presidents (of which there are three to six) are elected by the General Conference.

 

The President of the Executive Committee is Prof. Felix Ziegler, Germany.

 

Vice-Presidents are:

  • Mrs Halima Thraya, Tunisia
  • Mr Min Soo Kim, South Korea
  • Prof. Noburu Kagawa, Japan.

 

The President of the General Conference and the President of the Science and Technology Council are invited to meetings of the Executive Committee in an advisory capacity. The Director General of the IIR, Didier Coulomb, is automatically Secretary of the Executive Committee.

Management Committee

 

The Management Committee of the IIR meets at least twice a year and is responsible for management of the IIR between meetings of the Executive Committee. It comprises the President of the Executive Committee (who is automatically President of the Management Committee), three members are elected every 4 years by the Executive Committee, and three members elected every 4 years by the Science and Technology Council.

The President of the General Conference and the President of the Science and Technology Council are invited to Management-Committee meetings in an advisory capacity. The Director General of the IIR, Didier Coulomb, is automatically Secretary of the Management Committee.

Science and Technology Council

 

Dr Piotr Domanski

The Science and Technology Council coordinates the scientific and technical activities of the IIR.
These activities are divided into 10 commissions, which are organised into 5 sections.


The Science and Technology Council comprises a President, Dr Piotr Domanski, 6 Vice-Presidents (the 5 section Presidents and a Liaison Executive in relation to the next IIR congress) and the 10 commission Presidents.
 

The President of the General Conference, the President and the Vice-Presidents of the Executive Committee are invited to meetings of the Science and Technology Council in an advisory capacity.

 

The Director General of the IIR, Didier Coulomb, is automatically Secretary of the Science and Technology Council.
