Résumé

The motor fan is essential equipment used in a reciprocating compressor unit of natural gas. Focus on an unexpected fracture occurred on the blade of the motor fan, this article presents the numerical simulation and experimental validation to analyse the root cause. A finite element model was established to analyze the natural frequencies and modal shapes, and the experiment modal analysis (EMA) test was performed to verify the simulation results. It was indicated that the simulation results agreed well with the experimental modal data. The third order natural frequency was close to six times excitation frequency and the corresponding modal shape was combined of bending and torsional vibration, which caused the low-frequency resonance and the failure of the fan. The results of harmonic response analysis showed that the regions of stress concentration were consistent with the fractures on the fan. Based on the simulation and experiments, the optimization solutions were proposed to improve the reliability of motor fan.
