Résumé

The performance simulation has been conducted based on a numerical model of the heat and mass transfer process in a desiccant wheel, which is a core component of a desiccant cooling system. The simulation model was validated by comparing simulation results with experimental data. The numerical results are in reasonable agreement with experimental results. The effect of the rotation period on the performance of desiccant wheel has been investigated for various operation conditions; temperature (50 to 70°C), humidity ratio (0.01 to 0.02 kg/kg DA), and flow rate of regeneration air. The optimal rotation period was obtained based on maximum moisture removal capacity (MRC) of desiccant wheel, and the optimal rotation period varies with operation conditions. Also it is found that the nominal rotation period is enough to be applied to control desiccant wheel speed in most operation conditions.
