Résumé

CF3I (R13I1, Trifluoroiodomethane) is anticipated to be an additive substance suppressing the flammability of HFOs (hydro-fluoro-olefins). The surface tension of CF3I was measured using a differential capillary rise method with a total propagated uncertainty of approximately ± 0.3 mNm−1. The temperatures for measurement were 228–313 K.
The saturated liquid and vapor densities for CF3I at temperatures below 300 K were predicted using a liquid-vapor equilibrium molecular dynamic simulation. The predicted value of the liquid density was somewhat greater than the extrapolated value by Duan et al. (1999a). In this study, the surface tension data were obtained using the predicted liquid density. The value of surface tension was slightly lower than that by Duan et al. (1999b). Additionally, “Parachor”, an inherent temperature-independent parameter estimated from the molecular structure, was determined using the measured data. The Parachor value of CF3I was 170.
