Daisy Group, a data and telecoms provider, has apparently made 19% energy savings in cooling energy costs in a few months. The company signed a data centre thermal optimisation service for five of its data centres.

The service is offered by the British company EkkoSense. It has been designed to reduce data centre thermal risk, increase cooling capacity and reduce cooling equipment energy costs across Daisy’s data centres in Aston, Farnborough, Hamilton, Romford and Wapping. The managed service combines EkkoSense's IoT-enabled sensors, thermal visualisation and monitoring software, and data centre cooling optimisation to improve the airflow and optimise the data centres' cooling capabilities.

While reducing the company’s exposure to thermal risks was a key factor in the decision, Daisy Group head of facilities Michael Sheridan revealed that the energy savings exceeded expectations. “So far we have secured better than expected data centre cooling energy savings, with £115,000 already secured, and more to come as we continue to benefit from ongoing optimisation,” he revealed.
